Promote Positivity Movement

The Promote Positivity Movement is a volunteer-led movement based in Atlanta which advocates for community development, while working to raise awareness on a range of important causes and provide support for brothers and sisters experiencing hardships.

Through community initiatives and collaborations, the Promote Positivity Movement and HannahJoyTV push voter mobilization, civic engagement and legislation education. They also help amplify stories and share ways to support the community along with actionable steps to take toward pursuing justice, equality and equity.

During Summer 2020, the Promote Positivity Movement started the #LineOfSolidarity, a daily protest in Atlanta which drew thousands of community members calling for justice in response to unjust police brutality cases claiming the lives of Black people in America. The group chose to meet in front of the Olympic Rings because the rings represent unity, symbolizing that they are united in this fight for justice. After 50 straight days in person, the protest transitioned to a virtual setting and continued for months, and of course the work continues. Click here to learn more.

Promote Positivity Movement community leaders collaborate with groups across the U.S. to hold various programs. Hannah Joy Gebresilassie, the founder of the movement, launched the Promote Positivity Pop-up Tour during the summer of 2019, in which she hosts empowering events, panel discussions and intimate gatherings. The tour has hit 8 states in the U.S. and looks forward to growing and expanding to other countries. We can’t wait to connect with more communities soon.

To our community, promoting positivity doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means we choose to see the light at the end of the tunnel and hold onto hope through the highs and lows, while doing our part to make the world a better place.
